Off on Four is a jazz saxophone quartet based in Washington, DC. Their sound is unapologetically powerful, rhythmic, and funky, fully embracing the character of their instruments and performing music that is both composed and improvised. Most recently, the group actively works with local composers and sound artists to develop new music for the genre, and to augment and innovate by incorporating live looping and digital effects. They gave their debut performance in August 2018 at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and were featured at the 2019 U.S. Navy Band International Saxophone Symposium. After a successful proof of concept in 2019, in 2021 Off on Four will begin experimenting with Ableton Live, including premiering a new work by Tyler Anderson written for the group, Ableton Live, and rap artist Kunem.
